  • The H2C ($2,199) is the consumer flagship for college FabLabs — dual-nozzle, dual AMS capable, with full laser/cutting module support.
  • For engineering-grade R&D programs running continuous PPS-CF / PA-CF printing (or other abrasive filaments), the H2D Pro Bundle is the next tier up — Tungsten Carbide nozzles, Heavy Duty Filtration, Enterprise Integration Support. Contact us for academic pricing.

If your program specifically wants accessible dual-nozzle (e.g. for advanced HS engineering), the X2D AMS Combo ($899) is the new alternative — add it to the High-school Engineering setup for 16-color printing at a fraction of the H2D cost.

These aren't the only valid options — they're the four most common sets we've shipped.

Why Bambu Lab for schools (vs other brands)

We sell other brands too, but for school use we lean Bambu Lab for four reasons:

  1. "It just works" factor — Wi-Fi + Bambu Studio means the teacher is the IT department, not the printer.
  2. Closed chamber on P-series and H-series — ABS prints without warping, which matters for engineering classes where prints need to be functional.
  3. AMS multi-color without manual swaps — kids can stop the print, change a setting, and restart without adult help.
  4. Real curriculum support — Bambu Lab publishes free lesson plans, project files, and Bambu Studio tutorials.

The Starter Lab (~$650)

For an elementary classroom, get:

  • 2 × A1 mini at $219 each — small, fast, kid-proof.
  • 1 × AMS lite at $199 — multi-color for one of the two printers.
  • Spool-starter bundle of PLA in 4 colors — about $60.

Class run-of-show: Two kids per printer, one assigned to AMS color changes. End-of-week "show & tell" with photos of every print.

The Middle-school Lab (~$1,800)

For a middle-school engineering elective or makerspace:

  • 2 × P2S Combo at $799 each (printer + AMS 2 Pro) — closed chamber for ABS, multi-material, fast.
  • Extra spools + Engineering PLA / PETG bundle.
  • Optional: AMS HT ($139) for one of the printers if you teach polycarbonate in 8th grade.

At this age, students are running two-color prints and learning to fail. Have one P2S set up with PLA/PETG; set the other up with ABS for engineering-strength prints.

The High-school Engineering Lab (~$5,800)

For a high-school robotics team, capstone engineering class, or STEM magnet program:

  • 2 × H2D Combo at $1,999 each — flagship workhorse, AMS 2 Pro included.
  • 1 × 10W Laser Module at $299 — robotics teams love the laser-engraved nameplates and brackets.
  • 1 × Cutting Module kit at $89 — sticker / vinyl decals for the robot body.
  • AMS HT upgrade for one printer so they can print polycarbonate and high-temp engineering filaments.

With this setup, students can: design a part → print it → laser-engrave their team name on it → cut vinyl wraps for the frame. Same Bambu Studio interface for all four jobs.

The College FabLab (~$13,500)

For a college FabLab / makerspace / university engineering program:

  • Option A — H2C flaghship setup: 3 × H2C Combo at $2,199 each — flagship for the multi-material course, dual AMS-ready.
  • 1 × 40W Laser Module ($949) for the laser-cutting jobs.
  • 1 × Cutting Module kit ($89) per H2D for paper/poster/prototype mockups.
  • 1 × Smoke Purifier ($649) so you don't violate the campus fire code.

Option B — Engineering / R&D production setup (H2D Pro): If your program is doing serious engineering-grade printing (CF / GF / PPS materials, 8+ hours/day):

This is enough bench-tool density to support a maker-space schedule of 25-40 unique students per day, with shared laser/cutting queues managed via Bambu Studio's job scheduler.

The School Ambassador Program — how it actually helps

Purchasing 3D printers is only the beginning. The greater challenge is helping students and educators use them effectively throughout the school year.
